baby gourmet

Photobucket

two weeks ago Fer had an appointment with the pediatrician and the nutritionist ! and it went super good. He slowed down his growing rate, he lost weight, and they both said he is a very healthy happy baby.
We had an awesome chat with the nutritionist about how now you can feed EVERYTHING (except honey) to babies older than 6 months! Oh my! she opened a whole world to us! hehehe
In Mexico, babies usually eat everything at 6 months, and we do not have a high percentage of allergies. As a matter of fact, you never see the "Nuts free" anywhere.
Can you imagine daddy's face when he got the good news????? yup yup. huge smile and eyes wide opened!

Guess what happened next?? Well Daddy ran to the supermarket and got all sort of herbs, meats, veggies, etc. and the gourmet baby food started!

I just love seen our little guy eating all kind of meals, and he actually enjoys it.

Here is some of his favore meals so far:
Minestrone soup
Fish with mint, garlic and herbs
lentils with all kind of veggies
lemongrass rice and beef

We are trying to expose him to as many ingredients as we can. Hoping to avoid having a fuzzy eater. I know, kids at some point become fuzzy eater, but hey, it's good to dream once in a while. hahaha

I think my hubby should start a gourmet baby food business, hehehe

I'm in love with Britax!

Photobucket

Our little Fernando outgrew the bucket car seat when he was 4 months old. So we had
to do infant car shopping a little bit earlier than what we planned.
I was totally clueless about what to look for in an infant car seat. My plan was to get a cute seat, with some design, hahaha.

Thankfully I remembered that my friend Carissa mentioned to me once that I should buy a Britax car seat. She said they are a little bit pricey, but totally worth it.
So off we go, we start hunting down the seat, hoping for it to be on sale one day... and voila... one lucky day I found it at baby R Us with a 30% off!
Right from the first day we loved it! Easy to install, easy to fit the straps, and our baby looks pretty comfortable in it.

Then a few months later, we got a second car, so back to the car seat hunting.

Pretending to be smart and experienced enough with car seats, we went to several stores searching for options. We decided that we didn't need another Britax since this one will get used way less.

What a difference to go car seat shopping when you know what you need to look for.
I am not an expert at all, but here are some my recommendations:
1. check the latch connectors, way easier to install a car seat that have them
2. check Harness Adjuster Strap. Some have a very complicated system to adjust the straps and to release them.
3. check the Recline Adjuster. There are car seats that you will have to remove it from the car to adjust the angle, which sucks.

ok, back to where I was.

So we bought a Safety First. That according to us was decent enough! Well, guess what??? We didn't like it

We returned it... and today the hubby is going to get another britax, hahaha

"The Muffin Dance" lol

One day, a few weeks ago, I had a brilliant idea! I locked my hubby out of the car! And the only way I was going to let him in, was if he danced the "Muffin Dance". Check the original muffin dance

It was hilarious! I couldn't stop laughing! I love that the hubby is always willing to have fun and he never gets mad at me when I decide to play jokes on him!

So after making him dance, we started a trend! He already got me a couple of times, and so I did! hehehe

Here are his first dancing muffin, and my latest one. Enjoy

I love my life!

If you plan to marry someone... marry a chef!

Sorry, but this post I am totally going to brag about my awesome husband! Just because he deserves it!

The past couple of weeks, were crazy! The three of us got a really bad case of stomach flu, then I was in the transition of my two part-time jobs to my new full time job. So for a week I was trying to recover from a whole week of crazy sickness, work 3 jobs, and have a life. But my awesome husband/chef/lover/best friend saved me from insanity.

When I started dating him. I was too young to think about how our married life was going to be if one day I decided to married him. Never crossed my mind if he was a guy that would help me with the house chores, if he was willing to help me taking care of the kids, if he was going to be the kind of guy that prefers to hang out with his wife than with his friends.

Then... after like 12 years dating we got married. And 3 months after we were moving to Canada. I have to confess, that it was until them, that I started wondering how living together was going to be. Because even when we have been together for so long, being husband and wife wasn't going to be the same as being boyfriend and girlfriend.

And guess what??? That first year that everybody hates, because of all the adjusting of being together. Well, thank goodness we didn't experience that.

I have the best husband. The one that it's not afraid to help in the house. The one that will actually push me to go out with friends instead of staying home, the one that cooks for me, and even send me to work with lunch. The one that I can leave alone with our kid for hours and he won't phone me every 10 minutes not knowing what to do with the baby.

A few weeks ago we switched roles. I am not a full time worker, and he is a staying home dad. Yes, he is the kind of man that was actually looking forward to stay home with his kid! And you know what??? He is AMAZING! He takes Fernando for walks, run errants with him, cooks supper for us, he sends me to work with lunch, and it is just lovely to see him bonding with his kid!

So my conclusion after 3 years of marriage is: If you are going to marry somebody, he better be a chef! He is manly enough that he won't think that cooking is for girls! hahaha. Just saying
