Willing to adapt

March 16th was our 3rd wedding anniversary :) and all it keep coming to my mind is that our willingness to adapt is the key to our happy marriage, a happy life and it helps us to get closer to our dreams.

I grew up in a super steady environment. My life up to when I went to college had no complications at all.
I lived since I was 6 in the same house, same city, always spent Christmas in Tampico with all our relatives, every summer I would spend it at my grandma's. We lived a very comfortable life, no finances worries, no health problems, etc.
Yup, I had a spoiled childhood.

My husband grew up in a very different way. His parents moved a lot, he changed schools, his parents switched careers a few times, they had a different plan on what to do every Christmas, etc.

Even when we come from very different backgrounds, and we were raised in a very different way, we get along so good.
I think we are a weird combination, because most of the time we deal with things in our own way, but we always agree with each other. Don't know if I am making my self clear, hehehe

Oh well, the point is that since I moved to Texas, and then moved to Canada, I get this question from people back home: How do you do it? How can you be far away from home?

My answer is always: I am willing to adapt. I like to get into new things, and for that you usually will have to let go some stuff and welcome some new things.
I noticed, that the more I decide to get involve into my new life, the better I feel. It took me a while to realized about that, and it took me a lot of effort, but happy with the results
I won't lie, once in a while I get homesick, I miss home, I miss family, I miss just the smell of my country, its colors, its folklore... that will always be in me. But I am also embracing a new culture, and I enjoy the chances to mix a little bit of the two of them.

Same happens with relationships. As a wife, as a sister, as a daughter, as a mother, as a friend, as a co-worker... when you come into a new environment, you need to be willing to adapt, willing to get to know that person more and figure a way to get along with them.

I love that I have shared half of my life with my husband. We grew up together, we went from high school sweethearts to a family. We keep learning together, we keep getting to know each other, we keep conquering each other's heart.

A mi amor,

Te amo corazon y estos 3 aƱos han sido maravillosos... Gracias por ser un esposo maravilloso

6 months/6 meses

HALF A YEAR! Already??? Are you kidding me???

Yes, today our little Fernando is turning 6 months old!!!
It has been a half year full of new experiences and everyday learning!

What can I say? God decided to spoiled me with a very good baby.

  • At six months our little monkey hasn't been sick (Thank God for not having to run to the emergency room with a baby)
  • No diaper rash! This little guy has an amazing skin that seems not to suffer the use of diapers :)
  • Holding his sippy cup and drinking water! Yay! I have heard that there are a lot of babies that when you introduce them to water they hate it! Well, that is not the case here! He loves water.
  • He has double his weight, hahaha maybe a little bit more than double! Oh I love Mi bebe pachonsito (My fluffy baby)
  • Still sleeping through the night, and even better: he can go to sleep without a suckie!
  • Can sit up for a moment on his own
  • Not hating the tummy time any more
  • Has 3 teeth!
This 6 months have been a huge lecture for me. I am enjoying that our family has one more member, and I love that our marriage got even stronger!
I honestly thought that our marriage was gonna suffer a little bit with all the time that you have to dedicate to the baby, but it turned out to be the opposite. With my awesome husband and teamwork this home is working perfect! I couldn't ask for more

This coming week we have a doctor's appointment! I am so excited to start feeding him some solids! This is going to be fun!
We will have to keep an eye on daddy when he prepares baby's food. Daddy will want to make a gourmet baby food, hahaha

So for the weekend I have one mission! Get gear up to start preparing baby food next week!

And here are some pictures I snap of him today... you know me... hahaha

Enjoy

17. Ride my bike
18. High heels. You have no idea how sexy they make me feel. Winter please go away, I miss wearing my hight heels.
