7 months/ 7 meses

last 10th of the month Fernando turned 7 months old!
It was a sunny and warm day. It was the first time that it was warm enough to trow some blankets on the grass and take some sunshine :) Fernando loved the time sunbathing and after that he was exhausted and took a 2 hour nap! Yay for sunshine!

As you can tell in the photos, we have a big baby. He is wearing size 12 months (sometimes 12-18 months). Last week we had an appointment with the Pediatrician because my family doctor kept getting concern about his size. I always felt that there was nothing wrong with my little one, and it was nice to hear the Pediatrician said the same. She told us there is nothing to worry about, he just happens to be a big baby, and lately his growing rate has slowed down considerably :)

At 7 months he is:
  • sitting up by himself
  • chewing fruit and veggies in his baby mash thingy
  • he fights us for toys, hahaha
  • having some kind of "conversation" with us
  • going to the nursery at church and playing with the other babies (so so cute)
  • hugging us
  • reaching arms when he wants to be hold
  • he wakes up and play on his own for like half an hour in the mornings
  • eating a huge variety of baby food. So far there has no been a single thing that he doesn't like. Broccoli, peas, asparagus, squash, beans, etc.
On the not so exciting part... this month was the first time that he got sick :(
Mommy had the awesome idea to feed him casserole jarred baby food (he only had home made baby food). And it was a huge huge disaster! Poor boy! Vomiting, diarrhea and fever for a whole day.
Lesson learned!

Well now, here I leave you with some pics that I snapped

Enjoy

A day with the Mexicans

I went back to work a few weeks ago, and I feel we have got into a nice routine.
Since I am working just for 4 hours a day, 4 days a week, it is not stressful at all.

Fer usually wakes up around 7 am, so we all do the same, hahaha.
I change his diaper, take him into our bed and we play with him for a bit.
Then is feeding time, follow by wiping his face and get him all cute and clean to go over Carissa's.
Then is time for mami to get ready. A quick shower (while Fernando is happily playing in his crib), some quick breakfast, and put on some decent clothes, hahaha.
I drop off Fernando around 9:30ish, and off to work.
Then at 2 I get off work and go and pick up my little guy. I usually spend like an hour at Carissa's. We have coffee or tea, chat about daily stuff, then some design topic is a must, and then time for me and Nando (I love when Beckett says it) to go home.
We get home, relax a little bit, playtime with Fer, and then cook something for supper (while watching some mexican tv on the computer).
Papi gets home around 5:30 or 7:30 depending on which shift he is working. He usually plays with Fernando, or he plays some guitar to him :) (one of my favorite padre e hijo (dad-son) moments.
Around 8 is bath time, then last bottle of the day for Fernando, and bedtime.

That is pretty much what we do on weekdays. But this weekend Fernando has been doing a couple of new things that makes me smile when I see him doing it.

First, I noticed that he is paying more attention to cloth books, and I couldn't resist to snap a photo while he was "reading" :)

Then today, I decided to try one more time the sippy cup. Last time that I tried to teach him how to sip, he wasn't really into it. Today was a totally different story. On the second try he got it :)
And again, first thing that mami (mommy in Spanish) did was to grab the camera and snap a photo and why not some video, hahaha

and then the weekend starts! yay!

grandparents

I said no sad posts on my blog, but I just have to let it out.

Lately I have been feeling sad, and a little bit depressed.
It is a combination of too many factors, weather, professional grow, relatives, finances, and list can go on and on.

But at the end, there is just one thing that keeps bothering in my mind.

I knew it was something that was gonna happen at some point since we moved to Canada, but never thought it would be so hard.

When our little Fernando was born, it suddenly hit me. Our sweet baby has 4 grandparents that adores him and loves him to death, but they live 4,000 km away!!!!!
In fact, just 2 of his grandparents had have the chance to hold him :(

I never thought it would hurt me so much. I keep seeing Fernando growing, and he is going fast. And every time I see him doing something new, or every time that I realized that he is not that tinny baby anymore, there is just one thing that comes to my mind... We are not giving our parents the chance to be grandparents!! They can't kiss him, and hold him, and see that cute smile that I wake up to everyday! They can't smell him right after his bath, of feed him and see his expression when he sees the bottle. They can't rock him to sleep, or put him in bed and kiss him good night.

Fernando is the first and only grandkid on my family side and on Cesar's family side. Our parents were so excited when we told them that they were going to be grandpas and grandmas!
I feel aweful... I know our parents totally understand and support our decision to be in Canada. And they would never ever complain about the fact that Fernando is growing up so far away from them.
But it is the look in their faces when we do video calls on Skype that makes me sad. They see us playing with our little one, they see us make him jiggle, and all I can see in their eyes is "I want to hold my grandson so badly"
Looking back at time, I thought our plans were going to work out exactly how we had it in mind. Thought that I would have a full time job, and with me and my hubby working we would be able to save money to go twice a year (at least) to Mexico or to flight the family to Saskatoon. Well, that didn't happen.

Cesar hasn't been home since we moved to Canada (June 2008), I were home in February 2009... We really need to get there.
My heart is getting consumed... little by little. It is time to go back home

Oh well

Good thing you can't see me right now... tomorrow I will wake up with puffy eyes :.....(

ps. Thank God for adoptive family! Fernando has two sets of Canadian grandparents that adopted him :)
